Alginate Impression Compound
A rapidly setting material that is supplied in powder form, to be mixed with water. Due to its rapid setting ability & non-toxic nature, it is commonly used in contact with skin to mould body parts. Since the moulding compound is water based, it is best to use plaster as the moulding material to produce the cast. Moulds made with Alginate will rapidly deteriorate & are only suitable for producing one or two casts.

Polymorph
Biodegradable mouldable plastic granules that when submerged in hot water at 62°C fuse together & can be formed & shaped by hand as required. Sets hard like Nylon & can be reused.

Trylon Silicone Rubber
An excellent general purpose silicone rubber, used for mould making where minute surface detail needs to be reproduced and deep undercuts are present. Silicone Rubber has virtually no shrinkage and therefore will accurately reproduce dimensions & is extremely durable.
NB. All packs include curing agent.

Paraffin candle wax has a melting point of approx. 60°C.
Recommended a pouring temperature of 10-15°C above the melting point.

Used for mould making and casting.

Instructions

To find the amount of plaster/water mixture needed for your cast, firstly fill the mould with clean water and pour it into a mixing bowl. Dry the mould prior to casting. On average ratios are 850g of plaster to 1 pint of water. Slowly pour plaster into the water and stop when the mound of plaster powder starts to show above the water. Mix gently, but quickly, until you have a smooth creamy consistency. Try not to whip/beat the mixture, as this will create air bubbles.

Whatever type of mould you are using, firstly pour in a small amount of plaster mixture and encourage it to go into any fine details, then continue to fill the mould. Tap the sides/base of the mould to dislodge any air bubbles and help them float to the top.

Leave the plaster to dry at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes then carefully remove it from the mould. To dry out completely the cast must be left to stand in a warm place for at least 24 hours.

A high strength moulding plaster which gives an extremely hard finish. Powder to water ratio 3.57 : 1 (3.57 parts of Powder to one part water.) Initial vicat setting time - 18 minutes.
