School of EngineeringSchool of EngineeringInternational Conference on Soft Robotics 2022DescriptionSoft robotics aims at creating systems with high potential impact in science and for applications in unknown and challenging environments. From natural environment exploration to human-made infrastructure inspection, from medicine to space. https://softroboticsconference.org/
Sensor Signal Processing for Defence Conference (SSPD) 2022DescriptionThis event will be 11th conference of the Sensor Signal Processing for Defence (SSPD) series and this conference provides a chance to present latest scientific findings in signal processing for defence. https://www.sspdconference.org
Heat Powered Cycles Conference 2023DescriptionSociety is changing, moving from traditional to emerging technologies and the energy system follows the change. Nevertheless, heat is still a major player regardless of whether it is a need or as a waste. The “heat problem” crosses multiple fields. Heating and cooling, network stability, desalination and carbon capture processes are only a few of the applications in which heat is delivered, managed, converted and emitted across different temperatures. Since 1997, the Heat Powered Cycles series of conferences have been the privileged and only forum driving innovation on heat-centred processes. The 2023 edition comes home at The University of Edinburgh, where J.C. Maxwell, R. Stirling, W. Rankine and J. Black, the fathers of the theory of heat and heat-powered devices have first moved their steps. In Edinburgh, the conference will gather people who face the issue of “Heat in the new energy system,” to boost innovation on emerging heat-centred solutions that will constitute the backbone of the forthcoming energy system. https://heatpoweredcycles.eng.ed.ac.uk/home
Fired Up 2022DescriptionFired-Up is a conference for UK-based postgraduates, organised by students for students researching fire science and fire safety. This is the third edition of this event, following two extremely successful events hosted by the Imperial College London in 2019 and The University of Edinburgh in 2018.
The objective is to provide a platform to bring students together, express ideas, discuss research, share experiences from our postgraduate journeys, and make long-lasting connections. Additionally, this is a great opportunity to be exposed to the wide breadth of topics related to fire science and fire safety, and to facilitate a deeper understanding of the challenges in fire research. Students at any stage of their PhD or post-doctoral research are invited to give an oral or poster presentation of ongoing or finalised work.
11th Workshop on Digital Fluid Power 2022DescriptionThe main purpose of this workshop is to discuss and demonstrate the innovative potential of digital fluid power, to present new ideas, concepts, components, and systems, as well as areas of favourable applications, methods of analysis, modelling, simulation and control. The research groups of Digital Fluid Power and potential industrial users should be given an opportunity to share information of new solutions and industrial requirements and to stimulate in this way further progress.
