DescriptionThe summer school will promote the advancement of learning, and support the development, dissemination and deployment of knowledge and research in the fields of quantitative genetics, statistical and field epidemiology, and disease phenomics, using interdisciplinary approaches.
The event will comprise lectures, practical computer exercises with a data analysis component, group work and short research projects, discussion groups, and a social programme, so that participants will get a hands-on experience of the topics covered and will be encouraged to network.

Programme Overview: Monday: Dr Lena-Mari Tamminen (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) - Applied veterinary field epidemiology Tuesday: Dr Smaragda Tsairidou (University of Edinburgh, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Division of Global Agriculture And Food Systems) - Infectious disease genetics and genomics, breeding for disease control, and introduction to R programming. Wednesday: Prof David MacHugh (University College Dublin) and Dr John Ogrady (Animal Genomics, ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland) - Genome to phenome integration, with multi-omics analysis for disease resistance. Thursday: Prof Andrea Wilson (University of Edinburgh, Roslin Institute) - Genetic-epidemiological predictive modelling, Dr Masoud Ghaderi-Zefreh (Roslin Institute) and Dr. Marie Ithurbide (INRAE, AgroParisTech, France).
