Organelle dynamics in health and disease: bridging molecules to organismsInfo Location Contact More Info Event Information![]()
DescriptionThis international conference will bring together experts in neuroscience, cell biology, and biophysics to explore the fundamental mechanisms that govern cellular development, adaptation, and homeostasis. The program will focus on neuronal development, metabolic regulation, and organelle trafficking—three interconnected processes essential to health and often disrupted in disease.

ContactMore InformationTopics will include how neurons establish connectivity through plasma membrane expansion, receptor regulation, and targeted trafficking—especially critical in the context of long axons. Disruptions in these processes are increasingly linked to neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Another central theme involves how cells detect and respond to changes in nutrient availability. Organelles such as mitochondria, lysosomes, and autophagosomes are key regulators of metabolism, yet the mechanisms underlying nutrient sensing remain poorly understood. A third area of emphasis is the cytoskeleton and its role in coordinating vesicle transport and membrane remodeling. Biophysical mechanisms, such as those involved in endocytosis, illustrate how protein-lipid interactions preserve cellular structure and communication. By promoting interdisciplinary exchange and highlighting emerging research, the conference will advance understanding of how cells function across complex biological systems. The meeting will catalyze collaboration, accelerate discovery, and support the development of new strategies to address aging, cancer, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disease. All details are available on the EMBO website. Registration needs to be completed first on the EMBO website. Please use the same email address and delegate name. Registration fees include: - Admission to all three days of the conference - Daily refreshments and lunch - Wine & Cheese reception on Day 1 - Pub Quiz on Day 1 (for early career researchers only) - Gala Dinner on Day 2 - One activity of choice (to be selected during registration on the EMBO website) Please note: Registration fees do not cover accommodation, travel expenses, or poster printing costs. Grants: Travel, childcare, and accessibility grants are available. Travel grants will be awarded based on the quality of the submitted abstract. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
