Detailed Description

Completion of the appropriate zoological medicine B and C modules, together with the A module, is required for candidates aiming to achieve the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Zoological Medicine). Upon completion of all the necessary modules, a further synoptic oral assessment is also required.

The synoptic examination is an Oral assessment lasting no more than 60 minutes. Questions will be based around clinical scenarios, which will allow the examiners to assess that the candidate can demonstrate coherence, integration and application of what they have learnt in the appropriate ZooMed modules and can demonstrate that their learning experience has constituted a coherent ‘whole’ that justifies the designation in zoological medicine. Further information is available on our website.

The Zoological Medicine Synoptic Assessment is normally held once a year in March. Attendance at Edinburgh is required.
