DescriptionThe 9th International Meeting on Bone Marrow Adiposity (BMA2026) will showcase the latest advances in understanding of bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT), from molecular mechanisms to clinical implications. Basic scientists will improve their knowledge of new advances in the molecular and cellular mechanisms that influence bone marrow adipose tissue formation and function, both in normal development and physiology, as well as in pathological contexts. This fundamental knowledge will also improve the ability of clinical attendees to conduct difficult tasks in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic, haematological, and bone diseases. Participants will include researchers and clinicians from diverse fields, including molecular and cell biology, musculoskeletal research, experimental haematology, cancer, genetics, imaging, physiology, pharmacology, endocrinology, rheumatology, orthopaedics, internal medicine, and rehabilitation. While many attendees will come from the UK, Europe, and North America, we anticipate broad international representation.

Additional ItemsContactBMA2026 organising committee : Email Link More InformationBMA2026 will include invited speakers from diverse disciplines and career stages; selected ECR presentations; poster sessions; public engagement; industry speakers; and a conference dinner. It will offer numerous networking opportunities to allow interactions between researchers, sponsors and exhibitors, allowing new professional connections and supporting career development for all career stages. Recent advances include deep-learning-enabled population-scale analyses of bone marrow adiposity in the UK Biobank, and cutting-edge single-cell and spatial omics analyses to elucidate the mechanisms underpinning BMAT formation and function. These advances are transforming understanding of the basic biology and clinical relevance of bone marrow adiposity, adding further momentum to this rapidly growing research field. Our 9th International Meeting is ideally placed to capitalise on this momentum, laying a foundation for further research breakthroughs in the years ahead.
Programme changes It may be necessary for reasons beyond our control to change the content and timing of the Conference programme, the speakers, the date or the venue at any time prior to the Conference date.
