Economics of Financial Technology Conference 2024

Economics of Financial Technology Conference 2024

Description

Against the backdrop of regulatory developments, innovations in technology have significantly reshaped the finance landscape across the world, upending long-established orders of asset transformation. The economic processes in the finance sector are inextricably linked to the wellbeing of everyone in a modern economy. Therefore, our ongoing understanding of the evolution of the sector is non-negotiable. Academics, finance experts, and policymakers have a responsibility to lead this drive.

To this end, the Edinburgh Centre for Financial Innovations and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, with support from the University of Edinburgh Business School and the Edinburgh Futures Institute, are pleased to host the third instalment of the Economics of Financial Technology Conference in order to stimulate debate and research on financial innovation and the digital economy. The conference will bring together academics, policymakers, and finance professionals to share new insights and discuss the economic issues related to the application of technology to the practice of finance in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

The three-day conference will include keynote lectures, panel discussions, and novel research presentations and discussions.

AI for Senior Managers in Financial Services

Description

Delivered in partnership between Pinsent Masons, the Edinburgh Futures Institute and the University of Edinburgh Business School, this 1.5-day course for Senior Managers in Financial Services focuses on developing competence and providing training in understanding and addressing AI legal and regulatory risks.

Al presents immense opportunity and risk for Financial Services. Regulated Financial Services providers need to ensure that they have appropriate accountability and governance structures in place to meet the requirements of the UK regulators, including those of the Senior Managers Regime. Senior Managers must take steps to ensure that the impact of Al is addressed when considering whether the business is controlled effectively, relevant legal and regulatory requirements are complied with, responsibilities are appropriately delegated and required regulatory disclosures are understood and made.

Course participants will learn from expert instructors and fellow participants who face similar challenges in addressing Al risk in the regulated context.

Before attending, participants will receive a study guide outlining the key course materials. Lunch will be provided on both days and a participant's dinner has been arranged for the first night of the course. A follow up Q&A session one month after completion of the course will also be provided.

On successful completion Senior Managers will receive a certificate and digital badge that may be attached to on line profiles confirming the training received and competence acquired.
